About Hestan Vineyards
Hestan Vineyards was founded in 1996 by Stanley and Helen Cheng, the name blends 'He' from Helen and 'Stan' from Stanley, on a roughly 240-acre former cattle ranch and walnut orchard in Gordon Valley, a remote pocket of southeastern Napa County about 40 minutes from downtown Napa. Stanley Cheng also founded Meyer Corporation, now the largest cookware manufacturer in the United States. Planting began in 1998 and the first Hestan vintage was released in 2002.
Of the estate's 240 acres, 110 are planted to Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, Malbec, Sauvignon Blanc and Grenache, farmed on a property that is 100% solar-powered; there is no winery building on-site, and wines have historically been produced at Laird Estate. Consulting winemakers Thomas Rivers Brown (Hestan and Meyer labels) and Jeff Gaffner (the Stephanie Pinot Noir label) oversee roughly 6,000 cases a year across four labels. The winery's Yountville tasting salon opened in 2013, and a second retail, tasting and restaurant location, Hestan Napa, opened in downtown Napa in November 2025.
