About Holocene Wines
Holocene Wines is a small, family-owned Oregon winery in the Willamette Valley, founded in 2015 by winemaker Todd Alexander and his wife Carrie. Alexander built his early reputation in Napa Valley at Bryant Family Vineyard and later partnered on acclaimed Washington projects such as Force Majeure and WeatherEye, but Holocene is his personal exploration of cool-climate Oregon Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
The label is deliberately small, producing on the order of a thousand cases a year from a handful of diverse, sustainably and often dry-farmed Willamette Valley sites. Alexander works with the same low-impact approach he honed in Napa, favoring whole-cluster fermentation, native yeast, minimal extraction, little new oak and no fining or filtering, so each vineyard's sense of place comes through clearly.
Holocene is largely an allocation-driven, mailing-list label rather than a walk-in tasting destination, and it is genuinely an Oregon producer despite a Napa Valley mailing address appearing in some older listings. Anyone seeking the wines or a visit should contact the winery or join its list directly.
