About Icaria Creek Winery
Icaria Creek Winery is a small, family-owned boutique on a 50-acre ranch in the Asti Foothills, at the northern tip of Alexander Valley near Cloverdale. The name nods to the Greek myth of Icarus, and the estate has produced award-winning wine since 1997, when it became one of the first in Sonoma County to plant hillside Cabernet Sauvignon.
Most of the vineyard climbs to around 400 feet, planted to the Bordeaux reds, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Malbec and Petit Verdot, while ten acres of Chardonnay sit on the alluvial valley floor below. Warm days and cool nights give the hillside fruit both intensity and acidity, which the winery leans into deliberately: these are made as food wines, built with the structure and complexity to pair with a meal rather than to sip alone.
Visits are by appointment only and intentionally intimate, whether on the patio overlooking the vines or in a more personal cellar tasting; the estate can even be a place to stay overnight in the vineyards. It is a genuinely small, hands-on operation just minutes from Cloverdale, so it's worth confirming current availability before planning a visit.
