About Jones Family Vineyards
Rick and Elaine Jones bought this Calistoga hillside vineyard in 1991 from Bart and Daphne Araujo, who had planted it before moving on to found what is now Eisele Vineyard nearby. The Joneses sold their fruit to Stags' Leap Winery under Carl Doumani for several vintages before releasing their own first wine in 1996, made by Heidi Barrett, the winemaker also known for launching Screaming Eagle.
Vineyard management passed from David Abreu to Jim Barbour, and winemaking moved to Thomas Rivers Brown, who has earned nearly a dozen 100-point scores from major critics. The estate produced two Cabernet Sauvignons, its flagship Estate bottling and a second wine called The Sisters, plus a Rutherford Sauvignon Blanc, before the family stopped releasing new vintages after 2020.
