About Lacey Magruder Vineyard and Winery
Lacey Magruder sits at the top of the hill on Armstrong Road, west of Seneca Lake and about ten minutes from downtown Geneva. The tasting room occupies a barn roughly 180 years old, fitted out in a style closer to an Irish pub than a conventional winery.
That is deliberate. The owners spent years involved with an Irish pub in Baltimore, the bar and back bar were modelled on one in Dublin, and the winery takes its name from two Irish grandmothers. The list runs to Pinot Noir, Cabernet Franc, Blaufrankisch, Chardonnay, Riesling and a Cabernet Franc and Blaufrankisch blend, alongside sweeter pours and a dry rose.
Visiting
Open Friday through Sunday, 10am to 5pm, with the last tasting at 4pm. Tastings are served at the bar, and there is a deck with views over the countryside and Seneca Lake. Dogs on a leash or in a carrier are welcome. Groups of eight or more need a reservation. The winery closes for the winter season, so check before travelling out of season.
Lacey Magruder Vineyard and Winery is a member of the Canandaigua Lake Wine Trail, which links wineries from Victor down through Canandaigua to Naples.
