About Lafond Winery and Vineyards
Lafond sits on Santa Rosa Road outside Buellton, on the stretch of the Sta. Rita Hills that runs between Buellton and Lompoc and produces some of the coolest-climate fruit in California.
Pierre Lafond is a long-standing name in Santa Barbara wine, having founded Santa Barbara Winery in 1962, the county's first bonded winery since Prohibition. This estate carries the family name and the Santa Rosa Road vineyards behind it.
The road itself is the draw for anyone working the Sta. Rita Hills: a small run of serious Pinot Noir and Chardonnay producers strung along a valley floor that funnels marine air inland from the Pacific.
