About Lang & Reed Wine Company
Lang & Reed Wine Company is named for Tracey Skupny's maternal grandparents, Lang and Reed, two family names from a previous generation, placed on a Napa Valley Cabernet Franc estate as a tribute to the ancestors who shaped the founder's values. The grandparent tribute naming is among the most personally specific wine naming conventions: not a concept, not a place, not a philosophy, but two real people whose names are now on a bottle.
John and Tracey Skupny's estate is one of the very few Napa Valley wineries dedicated primarily to Cabernet Franc, a variety that most valley producers treat as a blending component for Cabernet Sauvignon. Lang & Reed's conviction that Cabernet Franc can stand alone in Napa Valley has been confirmed by critical recognition.
