About Laird Family Estate
Laird Family Estate traces to 1970, when Ken and Gail Laird, descendants of a three-generation Virginia tobacco-farming family, bought 70 acres of neglected prune orchards near Calistoga. Robert Mondavi financed the family's early vineyard development in exchange for planting specific grape varieties, and by the late 1990s the Lairds' holdings had grown to more than 2,000 acres across Napa Valley.
The winery's hillside tasting room and patios on Solano Avenue in Napa sit alongside a working custom-crush facility, giving visitors a rare look at active winemaking. The estate produces a broad portfolio, from Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay to Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Merlot and Primitivo, sourced largely from the family's own vineyard blocks, with vineyard operations run today by the third generation.
