About Ledge Vineyards
Ledge Vineyards is named for the geological ledges — the narrow horizontal rock outcroppings of calcareous limestone that mark the edges of elevation change on the Adelaida District property. Terry and Christie Woodin's estate is built on and around these rock ledges, where the limestone substrate that defines Adelaida District wine character is literally visible at the surface.
The Anderson Road estate produces Grenache, Syrah, and Cabernet Sauvignon from estate calcareous limestone vineyards where the rock ledges that gave the winery its name create well-drained, mineral-rich growing conditions. The calcareous substrate visible at the surface continues deep below the vines, the same mineral foundation that the finest Châteauneuf-du-Pape estates sit on.
The appointment-only format keeps the experience focused on the land — on the ledges, the limestone, and the wines that grow from them.
