Merry Edwards Winery

Merry Edwards is one of California's most celebrated winemakers — a Pinot Noir pioneer who has spent over four decades mastering the Russian River Valley. She began her career at Mount Eden Vineyards in 1974, making one of California's first single-vineyard Pinot Noirs before most producers had even considered the concept.

Her eponymous winery, founded in 1997, focuses exclusively on Russian River Valley Pinot Noir and Sauvignon Blanc from estate and carefully selected vineyard sources. Every wine is a single-vineyard expression — the Merry Edwards philosophy that the best wines tell the story of one place, one growing season, one farming decision.

Merry Edwards was acquired by Roederer Estate (Louis Roederer's California sparkling house) in 2019, but winemaker Heidi von der Mehden continues the tradition with the same meticulous vineyard-by-vineyard approach that Merry herself built over four decades. The wines regularly earn 95–100 points and have built an extraordinary collector following.
