About Migration by Duckhorn
Migration is Duckhorn Wine Company's cool-climate exploration project. When the Duncan family — who built Duckhorn into one of California's most celebrated Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon brands — wanted to pursue Pinot Noir and Chardonnay with the same rigor and commitment that defines their Napa Valley program, they created Migration as a vehicle specifically dedicated to cool-climate varieties from California's finest coastal AVAs.
The program focuses on single-vineyard Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from Russian River Valley, Anderson Valley, and Santa Lucia Highlands — each selected for the ability to produce wines of genuine site-specific character at the quality level that Duckhorn's reputation demands. The minimal-intervention winemaking philosophy ensures that each AVA's distinctive cool-climate character arrives in the glass without stylistic homogenization.
The Healdsburg tasting room — with valley views and the warm hospitality that Duckhorn's hospitality culture consistently delivers — provides one of the most accessible and complete introductions to the Migration program's multi-region Pinot Noir and Chardonnay exploration. For visitors already familiar with Duckhorn Napa, Migration shows the other side of the family's California wine ambition.
