About Neal Family Vineyards
Neal Family Vineyards traces to 1966, when Jack Neal moved to Rutherford and began managing Napa Valley vineyards, planting his first commercial vineyard, Zinfandel and Petite Sirah, in 1971. His son Mark took over the family operation after Jack's death in 1994 and began estate wine production in 1997 from the family's Howell Mountain property near Angwin.
The Howell Mountain estate sits at roughly 1,800 feet and is planted mostly to Cabernet Sauvignon (purchased in 1990); the family farms it and other managed sites, including the Rutherford Dust Vineyard, organically, and in late 2022 the operation earned Regenerative Organic Certification, among the first vineyard estates in Napa Valley to do so. Winemaking favors native-yeast fermentation and hand-selected vineyard blocks, alongside a small-batch, no-added-sulfite 'One & Only' series.
Neal Family became one of the first Napa Valley estates to earn Regenerative Organic Certification, in late 2022.
