About Optima Winery
Optima Winery is a small, family-owned winery in Healdsburg built on decades of winemaking devotion. Founder and winemaker Mike Duffy caught the wine bug in his father's garage, studied at UC Davis, and honed his craft under legendary vintner Andre Tchelistcheff before releasing his first Optima wine, 400 cases of Cabernet made in his own garage, in 1984.
For years he made wine full-time for other producers, including Trefethen in Napa and Field Stone in Alexander Valley, before leaving in 1997 to run Optima and spend more time with his family. Today the winery is a true family affair, with Mike and his wife Nicol and their sons all pitching in, producing limited-production reds, a flagship Alexander Valley Cabernet, a Knights Valley Cabernet, Dry Creek Zinfandel and Petite Sirah, and a Zinfandel Port, using techniques like extended maceration and unfiltered bottling, alongside a second value label, Fitch Mountain Cellars.
The Tuscan-style tasting room offers personalized flights and Dry Creek Valley views, by reservation.
