About Porter Creek Vineyards

Porter Creek Vineyards is one of the last genuinely small, biodynamic, family-operated wineries on Westside Road, the most celebrated wine corridor in Sonoma County. Founded in 1978 by George Davis and now operated by his son Alex, the 34-acre estate has been certified biodynamic for decades and produces Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Syrah in tiny quantities from estate and sustainably farmed neighboring vineyards.

Alex Davis's winemaking approach is deeply rooted in the farming: native yeast fermentation, minimal additions, unfiltered and unfined wines, and a willingness to let difficult vintages be what they are rather than correcting them into mediocrity. The results are wines of unusual honesty and site-specificity that stand out on a road crowded with excellent producers.

The tasting room is simple, warm, and staffed often by Alex himself or his family. The $20 tasting fee and walk-in welcome policy make Porter Creek one of the most accessible genuine biodynamic estate experiences in Russian River Valley, and among the best values on the entire Westside Road.

Porter Creek Vineyards presents a featured lineup that includes Estate Pinot Noir, Fiona Hill Pinot Noir, Estate Chardonnay, and Old Vine Carignane. Together, these bottles provide a focused introduction to the varieties, vineyard sources, and style that define the winery's current portfolio.

"Biodynamic Westside Road magic. Alex Davis makes some of the most honest and quietly brilliant Pinot Noir and Chardonnay in Russian River Valley from "
