About Proulx Wines
Proulx Wines is Ryan Proulx's personal Rhône variety project — his French-Canadian family surname placed directly on bottles of Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvèdre from the Paso Robles Adelaida District's calcareous limestone west-side terroir. The Proulx name is a declaration of authorship: these wines are made by this person, from these specific Adelaida District sites, with the Rhône philosophy that the winemaker's French-Canadian heritage has always informed.
Ryan Proulx works primarily in the Adelaida District's most structurally interesting sub-zones — calcareous limestone soils, dramatic diurnal temperature swings, and the marine air that flows over the Santa Lucia Range each afternoon. The GSM blend and single-varietal Grenache in particular have attracted attention for their finesse and restraint relative to many Paso Robles Rhône programs.
The appointment-only format keeps the tasting experience personal and focused — consistent with a boutique whose entire identity is one person's name and one person's winemaking philosophy.
