About Regan Vineyards Winery

Regan Vineyards is the estate vineyard behind a good deal of what Bargetto bottles, and it now pours under its own name in Corralitos. John Bargetto, a fourth-generation Santa Cruz Mountains winemaker and director of winemaking for both Bargetto and Regan, runs the winemaking.

That makes three connected entries in this catalog: Bargetto Winery in Soquel, founded 1933; Soquel Vineyards, started by two Bargetto grandsons in 1987; and this estate, where much of the family's estate fruit is actually grown.

The site earns the drive. Tastings look out over the Santa Cruz Mountains, across the Pajaro Valley and down to the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary, and the range is broader than most in the area, running Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Merlot, Nebbiolo, Pinot Gris and sparkling wine.

It is also a working farm rather than a manicured estate. Small-group tours take in the vines and the winegrowing process alongside the property's horses, chickens, olive trees and organic vegetable gardens.
