About The Berkshires
The Berkshires bring wine tasting into one of America's great cultural landscapes. This western Massachusetts hill country. Home to Tanglewood, the Clark Art Institute, Jacob's Pillow, and MASS MoCA.now includes a growing number of wineries and cideries producing cold-hardy hybrid wines and fruit wines at elevations above 1,000 feet.
Furnace Brook Winery at Hilltop Orchards anchors the scene from a hilltop in Richmond with panoramic views and a combination of wines and hard ciders. Les Trois Emme in New Marlborough brings a European sensibility to estate winemaking. Smaller producers scattered through the hills work with Marquette, Frontenac, and orchard fruits.
Wine touring here is inseparable from the broader Berkshires experience, world-class music, art, theater, and some of New England's most spectacular fall foliage. The combination of cultural institutions, farm-to-table dining, and increasingly serious winemaking makes this a weekend destination with more layers than most visitors expect.
