About Rosscienda Vineyard
Rosscienda is a young estate on Redwood Heights Road in Aptos, owned by Doug and Jenny Ross, and its timeline is worth reading before visiting. They planted Pinot Noir in 2015 and Chardonnay in 2018, then built a winery barn in time to make their first estate wines from the 2023 harvest.
That makes this one of the newest producers in the appellation working entirely from its own fruit, in a corner of Aptos where sunshine and cool coastal fog do the work the Santa Cruz Mountains are known for.
The farming is deliberate: sustainable and regenerative practices aimed at biodiversity and soil health rather than yield. Production is small-batch across the two varieties, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, and nothing else.
The important practical point is the schedule. The tasting room opens on the first Saturday of the month only, from 1pm to 5pm, and only from April through November. Turning up on any other Saturday will not work.
