About Sanglier Cellars
Sanglier Cellars, the name is French for wild boar, is a family-owned label founded by Glenn and Melissa Alexander, who first fell for Sonoma County on a 1985 visit and kept coming back for its vineyards, farms, cheesemakers and food culture. After twenty years in the business world, they bought a farmhouse and old-vine Zinfandel vineyard in the Russian River Valley in 2001, and Glenn returned to farming; their first wines followed in 2006.
At heart they are grape growers: they hand-farm several hundred acres of top sites across the county, coastal hills, mountain slopes, river valleys and volcanic hillsides, and select fewer than fifteen acres of the best fruit for their own tiny, handcrafted lots of 100 to 400 cases. The wines span Pinot Noir, Cabernet, Syrah, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, a dry rose and Rhone-style blends.
Their warm, welcoming Healdsburg tasting room pours flights and wines by the glass, some straight from the keg, a friendly, farmer-first celebration of Sonoma County.
