Scar of the Sea takes its name from the scar of the sea — the geological mark that ocean action leaves on coastal terrain, the erosion patterns, cliff faces, and sea-carved formations that declare the Pacific's presence in the Santa Barbara wine country landscape. The scar is also a healing: the wound that becomes evidence of the sea's past violence, the mark that remains after the water recedes.
