About Sequoia Grove Winery
Sequoia Grove Winery was founded in 1978 by brothers Jim and Steve Allen on a Rutherford property named for a small grove of Giant Sequoia trees planted next to the site in 1908, the same year the estate's barn, now the tasting room, was built.
Jim Allen, a co-founder of Domaine Carneros who also helped establish the Rutherford AVA, planted the vineyard the following year; the Kopf family has owned Sequoia Grove since 2002, continuing its focus on single-vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon from its own Rutherford and Tonella estate vineyards.
As of mid-2026, Sequoia Grove is investing in new vineyard holdings and upgraded estate experiences, and has introduced a new Napa Valley Sauvignon Blanc to its lineup.
