About Seven Apart
Don Dady, a Santa Rosa native who co-founded the Scottsdale-based retirement services firm Annexus, built his winery around a lesson from a University of San Diego finance professor who taught students to evaluate investments by seven distinguishing characteristics. When Dady decided to start a Napa Valley winery, he assembled two properties: a Silverado Trail site that was once home to Van Der Heyden Vineyards, and Stags Ridge Vineyard on Atlas Peak, a block of volcanic rock terrain so difficult to clear that it wasn't planted until 1999.
Ground broke on the Silverado Trail winery in 2018 and finished in February 2020, with a separate hospitality center completed the following year; Stags Ridge sits a fittingly symmetrical seven miles away by road. Seven Apart makes only allocation-list Cabernet Sauvignon from its two estate vineyards, pairing each tasting with a rotating collection of modern art, and its debut vintage drew strong early reviews from critics.
