An accidental American classic, White Zinfandel was born from a stuck fermentation in 1972, when winemaker Bob Trinchero's attempt to concentrate red Zinfandel left behind a pale, off-dry wine that became a phenomenon. A family business since 1948, brothers Mario and John Trinchero bought the abandoned Sutter Home site fresh off the boat from Italy, and the Trinchero family still runs the winery today.

An introduction to wine for millions, Wine Spectator honored Bob Trinchero for introducing more Americans to wine on the table than anyone in history, a legacy the original St. Helena tasting room still celebrates.
