About Swanson Vineyards

Swanson Vineyards is a Napa Valley wine producer, established in 1985. W. Clarke Swanson Jr.'s 1985 Oakville estate, a Merlot pioneer now under Foley Family Wines ownership. From frozen dinners to fine wine, founder W. Clarke Swanson Jr. came from the family behind Swanson frozen TV dinners before building a Napa Valley Merlot reputation of his own.

A tasting format ahead of its time, Swanson pioneered the North Coast's first sit-down luxury tasting salon, seating guests around a table rather than lining them up at a standard bar. Sold at a bankruptcy auction, Bill Foley's Foley Family Wines acquired Swanson through U.S. Bankruptcy Court proceedings in late 2024, adding it to a Napa Valley portfolio that includes Silverado Vineyards.
