About Taste of Sta. Rita Hills & Moretti Wines
Taste of Sta. Rita Hills solves one of wine country's great frustrations: many of the appellation's most coveted producers have no tasting room at all. Antonio and Jeni Moretti, who opened their own Moretti Wine Company in the Lompoc Wine Ghetto in 2010, created this collective room to pour for boutique neighbors without storefronts, representing about a dozen hard-to-find labels along the lines of Sea Smoke, Paul Lato, Mail Road and Racines.
The house Moretti label is its own draw: just 400 or so cases of European-styled, food-first wines, with releases crafted by two of the region's most decorated hands, Steve Clifton and Paul Lato, plus a rosato made with Happy Canyon's Crown Point and an imported Prosecco DOCG from Valdobbiadene honoring Antonio's Italian roots.
Now pouring on Grand Avenue in Los Olivos after years in the Lompoc Wine Ghetto, the room keeps the Moretti touch: gracious hosting, thoughtful cheese pairings, and flights that let you tour the appellation's cult producers in a single sitting, Thursday through Monday.
