About Trujillo Wines

Michael Trujillo grew up on a 3,000-acre family farm in southern Colorado and was studying architectural engineering when a 1982 spring break trip to visit a family friend's small Napa Valley winery changed the course of his life. He never returned to finish his degree, instead staying to help plant vineyards, eventually working alongside legendary consultant André Tchelistcheff for 13 years while studying winemaking formally at UC Davis.

Trujillo went on to lead Sequoia Grove as president and director of winemaking, stepping down from that role in January 2020 to focus on his own namesake label, first released in 2011. His Cabernet Sauvignon blends historic Rutherford fruit from Morisoli Vineyard, bordering Scarecrow, with mountain grapes from Howell Mountain, and the label itself carries a family crest combining his Colorado roots with his adopted Napa Valley home.
