About Vines on the Marycrest
Vines on the Marycrest is the west-side family label of Victor Abascal, whose dry-farmed hillside vineyard off Highway 46 West produces small lots of Rhone blends and Zinfandel with names drawn from music and memory, most famously My Generation. The project began as a leap of faith by a filmmaker turned farmer.
The wines carry a handmade, personal quality and modest pricing, with the family working the vines themselves. It is the west side's romantic-underdog story in working form. Dry-farmed hillside fruit and a family doing everything themselves is the west side's founding formula, and Marycrest keeps it alive at a scale where visitors often meet the people whose names are on the deed.
