About Whitewater Hill Vineyards
Whitewater Hill Vineyards sits atop its namesake hill in the Grand Valley just south of Clifton, near Grand Junction, where founders Nancy Janes and John Behrs planted their estate in 1999. The tasting room looks straight out over the vines toward Mount Garfield and the Book Cliffs.
The estate grows Colorado grapes in mineral-rich limestone soils at roughly 4,600 feet, where intense high-desert sunlight and cool nights build flavor while preserving acidity. The result is an unusually broad lineup, from dry whites and reds to semi-sweets, dessert wines, and a signature ice wine. Tastings are attended and unhurried, the patio is shaded, and the winery is proudly dog friendly.
Hours, tasting fees, and reservation policies change with the season, so it is worth checking the winery's website or calling ahead before you visit, especially on weekends. The details on this profile may have shifted since publication, and the producer is always the most authoritative source.
