About Wildhurst Vineyards
Wildhurst Vineyards combines wild (untamed, natural, without human cultivation) with hurst (Old English for a wooded hillside, copse, or thicket) — the wild thicket, the untamed woodland hillside. The naming declares the estate's relationship to the Lake County landscape: the volcanic hillsides and oak woodland clearings where the boundary between the cultivated vineyard and the wild landscape is never far. Established in 1991, Wildhurst is one of Lake County's historically founding modern wineries, its wildwood-hill naming capturing the character of Clear Lake's agricultural and natural landscape. The Kelseyville Main Street tasting room provides access to Cabernet Sauvignon, Sauvignon Blanc, and Chardonnay from Lake County estate vineyard sources.
