About Wildhurst Vineyards

Myron Holdenried, a fifth-generation Lake County farmer, helped launch the county's modern wine rebirth in 1966 when he replanted a Kelseyville pear orchard with 30 acres of Zinfandel, selling grapes to John Parducci, Barney Fetzer, and Jess Jackson's young Kendall-Jackson. In 1991, partnering with the four Collin brothers of the Central Valley, he founded Wildhurst Winery at the former Stuermer Winery site in Lower Lake, at a time when Lake County had only three other wineries.

Wildhurst moved permanently to Kelseyville in 1997, opening its tasting room in the historic I.O.O.F. Hall on Main Street and building a reputation around estate Sauvignon Blanc from the Big Valley District. The Holdenrieds sold the winery and tasting room business to third-generation grape grower Michael Hat and his wife Tanya in 2017, while continuing to farm their own Kelseyville vineyards; recent listings indicate the Main Street tasting room has since closed, so check current status before visiting.
