About Bella Oaks Vineyard
Bella Oaks was planted in 1973 by Barney and Belle Rhodes on the Rutherford Bench, on the same couple's second Napa Valley vineyard after they had earlier sold what became the legendary Martha's Vineyard to Tom and Martha May. For over three decades, Bella Oaks fruit went into Heitz Cellar's celebrated vineyard-designate Bella Oaks Cabernet Sauvignon.
Arts patron Suzanne Deal Booth bought the vineyard in 2010 and spent a decade replanting it organically and biodynamically with vineyard manager David Abreu before releasing Bella Oaks' first wine under its own name, made by winemaker Nigel Kinsman with consulting from Michel Rolland.
