About Campesino Cellars
Campesino Cellars is a family-owned Napa label founded by husband-and-wife Macario and Griselda Montoya, with Macario as winemaker. Griselda grew up in Carneros as a daughter of the Ceja family, and the winery's name honors the campesinos, the farmworkers who tend California's vineyards; the hands on the Syrah label belong to Griselda's father, career vineyard worker Pablo Ceja.
The wines are largely Rhone in spirit, made in a California style from cooler-climate North Coast fruit, alongside Pinot Noir. Bottlings have included Sonoma Coast Syrah from Sangiacomo, a Napa Carneros Pinot Noir from the family's Papi y Chula Vineyard, and white Rhone blends and rose. Production is small and personal, an extended-family affair rooted in the Montoya and Ceja families.
