Cayuga Ridge Estate Winery

Cayuga Ridge Estate Winery sits near the center of the Cayuga Lake Wine Trail in Ovid, one of the oldest wineries in the Finger Lakes and a fully estate-grown operation run by the Challen family. Every bottle comes from roughly 30 acres of vines on the property, farmed with a focus on sustainable land stewardship.

The estate is closely tied to the Cayuga White grape, a hardy hybrid developed by Cornell University for the Finger Lakes and first planted commercially here, and it remains the only East Coast grower of Orange Muscat. The lineup spans Riesling, Gewurztraminer, Chardonnay, Cayuga White and the Cayuga Cuvee, Chancellor, Cabernet Franc, and Cabernet Sauvignon, along with popular fruit 'Essence' wines, honest, straightforward bottlings that have won awards at home and abroad.

Tastings take place in a warm, rustic restored barn glowing with gothic church lights, alongside a gift area and a second tasting room. Don't miss The Copper Oven, the winery's wood-fired pizza restaurant run by the Challens' daughter, whose seasonal, locally sourced menu has ranked among the very top restaurants in the Finger Lakes.
