About Charmant Vineyards
Charmant is a small family winery on Larsen Road in Aptos, a stone's throw from Aptos Village and the coast. Eugene and Juliette Theron established it in 2017, with Eugene making the wine.
The brief is narrow on purpose: sustainable farming and minimal-intervention winemaking aimed at producing something that expresses the Charmant property and the Pinot Noir grape, rather than a broad range.
Tastings centre on an elevated flight of three, a Chardonnay alongside the Le Refugie and Estate Pinot Noirs, with an optional artisanal chocolate pairing. Wine is also poured by the glass and bottle.
Guests are welcome to bring a picnic basket and settle in, which suits a property whose owners describe it as intimate rather than grand. It doubles as a wedding and event venue for up to a hundred people.
One practical note the winery makes itself: it does not take part in the Santa Cruz Mountains Passport Program, so a passport will not get you a tasting here.
