About Stockwell Cellars
Stockwell Cellars occupies a former welding shop on Fair Avenue, on the Santa Cruz westside. Eric Stockwell cleared out the back half of his metal shop in 2014 to open the winery; it has since taken over the whole building.
The furniture tells that story. The wood and steel tables and bars are Eric's own work, as are the suspended lights over the lounge areas, and the result is a warm industrial room with couches rather than a stand-up bar.
It doubles as a gallery. The Stockwells are active supporters of local artists and hang the tasting room accordingly, running First Friday art nights alongside live music and a rotation of local food vendors. Eric makes the wine, single varietals handled without much manipulation; his wife and co-owner Suzanne runs the room and the club.
Fruit for the Pinot Noir and Chardonnay comes from local growers, with Sauvignon Blanc, Syrah and Cabernet sourced from other California appellations.
