About Chimney Rock Winery
Chimney Rock Winery was founded in 1980 by Hack and Stella Wilson, who bought a 180-acre former golf course on the Stags Leap District's Silverado Trail and dug up the fairways to plant vines, bottling their first wine in 1989. The Wilsons' South African heritage inspired the estate's distinctive Cape Dutch-style winery and tasting room, built in the early 1990s.
The Terlato family became partners in 2000 and took full ownership in 2004, continuing to focus the estate's 119 acres and 28 vineyard blocks on Bordeaux varieties, especially Cabernet Sauvignon. Elizabeth Vianna has been winemaker since 2002.
