About Clos Du Val
Clos du Val is a family-led Stags Leap District estate founded in 1972 and known for a Bordeaux-inspired approach to Napa Valley wine. The visitor experience takes place at Hirondelle House, a contemporary hospitality setting designed to stay connected to the surrounding estate. Cabanas, a sunny patio and the cooler cellar provide several possible environments for a hosted tasting.
Cabernet Sauvignon is central to the winery's identity, joined by other estate and Napa Valley wines. A guided current-release tasting explains the family story, the Stags Leap District and the way Clos du Val approaches balance and aging. Seasonal food additions such as a dip with fresh sourdough give the experience a culinary element without turning the property into a restaurant.
The winery currently welcomes guests Thursday through Monday. Reservations are encouraged, while walk-ins may be accommodated when seating and staffing allow. Every visitor must be at least 21 years old. The experience selected determines whether guests sit in a cabana, on the patio or in the cellar, and private groups can arrange more customized formats.
Hirondelle House offers a polished but relaxed alternative to the region's cave-heavy or highly formal estates. Outdoor seating keeps the visit connected to the vineyard landscape, while the cellar provides a quieter option. Leashed, well-behaved dogs are permitted outdoors, but that policy should not be extended to indoor spaces or every private experience.
Clos du Val works well for adult couples and small groups building a Silverado Trail itinerary. It is accessible enough for first-time visitors while offering meaningful history for serious Cabernet drinkers. Confirm the exact day, time, seating area and food inclusion before arrival. Guests traveling with a dog should reserve an outdoor-compatible experience and have a backup plan for extreme heat or rain.
