About Decoy by Duckhorn

Decoy launched in 1985 as a value-driven second label sourcing fruit across California, then became a standalone winery brand in 2008 with an expanded lineup spanning Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Zinfandel and Rosé. It is part of the Duckhorn Portfolio, whose flagship Duckhorn Vineyards is headquartered in St. Helena, Napa Valley.

Decoy owns two Alexander Valley estate vineyards, Ridgeline Vineyard, high in the Mayacamas range (acquired 2012), and Brownell Vineyard near the Russian River (acquired 2013), and also sources from Sonoma Coast and Paso Robles. Winemaker Dana Epperson oversees the portfolio, which now includes a premium 'Decoy Limited' tier (launched 2020) and a lighter-style 'Decoy Featherweight' line (launched 2024).

A Duckhorn-owned California brand built largely on Sonoma County and Alexander Valley fruit, not estate Napa Valley vineyards.

Not a Napa estate labelDespite Duckhorn's St. Helena roots, most current Decoy wines are sourced from Sonoma County, Alexander Valley, and Paso Robles rather than Napa Valley vineyards.
"An actively operating, widely distributed Duckhorn-portfolio brand whose wines are mostly sourced outside Napa Valley despite the parent company's Napa roots."
