About Faust Wines

Faust gives Napa visitors an unusual combination: the wines are rooted in the cooler Coombsville estate, while the hospitality happens at Faust Haus, a dramatic restored 19th-century Victorian in St. Helena. That separation is part of what makes the experience interesting. Instead of arriving at the vineyard where the Cabernet is grown, guests encounter the wine through architecture, interiors and terraced gardens designed to create a strong sense of atmosphere. The current tasting menu is organized in several levels. Act I is a 60-to-90-minute introduction to limited-production estate wines with curated snacks. Act II adds deeper estate and library selections with more substantial cheese and charcuterie.

Act III is a private format with a property tour and a vertical of The Pact Cabernet Sauvignon, along with other limited bottlings and food. The tiers are different enough that choosing the right one matters more than simply booking the first available time. Faust Haus is open Thursday through Monday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 2867 St. Helena Highway. Reservations are required, and every guest must be at least 21.

Children and pets are not permitted. That makes Faust a better fit for adult couples and groups than for family itineraries. In the tasting, ask how the cooler Coombsville vineyard shapes Faust and The Pact. The St. Helena setting can make it easy to forget that the wine story begins much farther south in the valley, and understanding that contrast makes the visit more meaningful. Faust is particularly appealing to travelers who care about design as much as wine. Give yourself time to experience the house and gardens rather than treating them as a backdrop. It can serve as a memorable mid-valley anchor, especially when paired with a second stop that physically sits in its own vineyard.

Faust is a Huneeus Vintners label, sister to Quintessa, not Trinchero Family Estates, and its 2021 Cabernet ranked No. 4 on Wine Spectator's 2024 Top 100.
