About Fantesca Estate & Winery
Fantesca Estate & Winery is a private Spring Mountain property above St. Helena, where a cave, historic Cabernet vineyards and broad valley views shape an intimate luxury experience. The winery is owned by Susan and Duane Hoff and is structured around small, personally hosted appointments rather than public visitor volume. The drive, elevation and private pace all contribute to the sense that the tasting is taking place at a mountain estate rather than a commercial salon.
The portfolio includes estate Cabernet Sauvignon, red blends, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir produced from selected vineyard sources. The host can explain how the mountain Cabernet site relates to wines made from other regions and grapes. The tasting is curated, and the exact lineup depends on current releases and availability. Optional chef-prepared bites can be added to create a more culinary visit.
The private tour and tasting currently lasts about 90 minutes and accommodates parties of up to eight. Guests move through the grounds, wine cave and production areas before a seated tasting. During the winery's 2026 tasting-room renovation, the experience has been adjusted to use the Proprietor's Estate, gardens and a private tasting retreat. Reservations should be secured well ahead, especially for weekends.
Spring Mountain Road is winding, and the estate includes uneven outdoor surfaces. Comfortable footwear is important, and guests with mobility needs should contact the team before arrival. The property does not accommodate children anywhere on the estate, and every participant must be at least 21 years old.
Fantesca is best for couples, collectors and small groups seeking a private cave and mountain experience. It deserves a generous time block and should not be paired with a tightly scheduled appointment far across the valley. Confirm whether the renovation is still affecting the route, whether food has been added and which wines are included. Holiday closures and limited availability make advance planning essential.
