About Favia

Favia was founded in 2003 by married couple Andy Erickson and Annie Favia. Erickson, who studied political science at Tufts before earning a master's in viticulture and enology at UC Davis, worked at Harlan Estate, Screaming Eagle, and Dalla Valle; Favia, a French literature graduate, became a viticulturist for David Abreu's vineyard management company. Both discovered wine while living in France.

The winery makes about 2,200 cases a year using native-yeast fermentation and unfined, unfiltered bottling, sourcing fruit from Coombsville and Oakville vineyard blocks along with Ann Kraemer's Shake Ridge Vineyard in Amador County for Rhône varieties. In 2023 the couple acquired an 86-acre Oakville property where they plan to build a new estate winery; until that's built, appointment tastings continue at the Coombsville property.

Favia doesn't yet have an Oakville tasting room, the 86-acre Oakville estate acquired in 2023 breaks ground in spring 2026, with first harvest targeted for 2028.
