Fitzpatrick Winery & Lodge sits high on a Sierra Foothills hilltop in the Fair Play area of El Dorado County, at around 2,500 feet with sweeping 360-degree views over Gold Country. Family-run and proudly Irish, it is one of the region's organic-farming pioneers, best known for rich estate reds like Zinfandel, Syrah, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc, along with port-style dessert wines.
The heart of the place is a hand-hewn log lodge that sits atop the underground cellar and houses both the tasting room and a five-room bed and breakfast. Come for a tasting with Irish hospitality and a weekend ploughman's lunch, linger on the deck for wood-fired pizza and summer live music, or stay the night in a room with vineyard and Sierra views.
