About Fortunati Vineyards
Fortunati Vineyards is a small, husband-and-wife family estate in the Oak Knoll District of Napa Valley, founded by Gary and Ellen Luchtel after they relocated from San Francisco. The couple bought their ten-acre property, then raw brush land, in 2003 and released their first Fortunati-labeled wines in 2009.
Gary Luchtel, who developed his palate competing up through the professional ranks of the California State Wine Tasting Championship, oversees both the vineyard and winemaking. The estate is farmed sustainably without herbicides or pesticides and is planted mainly to Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Viognier, Cabernet Franc, and Malbec.
Fortunati Vineyards' 2021 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon was named Best of the Best among more than 1,100 entries at the 2025 North Coast Wine Challenge.
