About Grassini Family Vineyards
Grassini's tasting room sits in the historic El Paseo complex in the Presidio neighbourhood, a few steps off State Street, which makes it one of the easiest serious wineries in the county to reach on foot.
The wines come from a thirty-five acre estate vineyard in Happy Canyon, the warmest of Santa Barbara's appellations and the one that actually ripens Bordeaux varieties properly. The focus is Cabernet Sauvignon and Sauvignon Blanc, with Merlot and blends including Equipo and Articondo.
The room is built for lingering rather than queuing: a long reclaimed-wood bar, leather chairs beside a fireplace, and three patios including a private courtyard.
Readers of the Santa Barbara Independent voted it Best Urban Tasting Room in 2024 and Best Santa Barbara County Winery six years running.
It is explicit about welcoming both families and well-behaved dogs on leads, which not every downtown room is.
