About HALL Rutherford
HALL Rutherford is the exclusive, appointment-only estate of Craig and Kathryn Hall, set amid the legendary Sacrashe Vineyard on a hillside off Auberge Road in Rutherford. It is a separate property and experience from HALL St. Helena, focused on the winery's highest-end reserve and single-vineyard Cabernets, some produced in such small quantities that they can only be found by visiting.
Completed in 2005, the high-tech winery was designed for small-lot red-wine production, with custom three-to-six-ton fermenters that let the winemaking team handle individual vineyard blocks with precision. The property's 14,000 square feet of caves were built by hand by Friedrich Gruber of Gutenstein, Austria, and finished with handmade Austrian brick recovered from sites in and around Vienna. The caves showcase works from the Halls' art collection and culminate in the famous Chandelier Room, lit by Donald Lipski's "Chilean Red" chandelier.
A visit is a private, guided experience: a tour of the estate and production facility followed by a seated tasting of the Platinum and top Artisan Collection Cabernets, often paired with cheese and charcuterie. Availability is very limited and offered only as the wine permits, so reservations are required and best made well in advance. Guests should treat this as a destination for serious wine enthusiasts rather than a walk-in tasting room.
Stopped at the border with French vines in his trunk, John HALL Rutherford ate the receipts, Napa now calls them the HALL Rutherford Clones.

"Wino Notion likes that HALL Rutherford turns the cave, vineyard diversity and family storytelling into a full 90-minute experience rather than a basic flight. The separate grower-Champagne tasting is distinctive, provided visitors understand that it is not an estate-wine program."
