About HALL St. Helena

HALL St. Helena combines a historic winery property with contemporary architecture, a large-scale art collection and a Cabernet-focused tasting program. The estate includes the restored Bergfeld Winery buildings, modern production and hospitality spaces, the Great Lawn and recognizable outdoor works such as the large rabbit sculpture near Highway 29. It is visually energetic and more publicly accessible than the private HALL Rutherford cave estate.

Cabernet Sauvignon is the central focus, with wines drawn from vineyard sites across Napa Valley. Entry tastings introduce current releases, while tours and elevated reservations explore limited wines, vineyard distinctions and the property in greater detail. The art and architecture create an engaging setting, but the host still uses the wine flight to explain appellation, blending and the HALL portfolio.

The winery is open daily from 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Reservations are recommended, although walk-ins can be accepted when tables and staff are available. Current tastings begin around $45, and tours begin around $60. Private and larger group experiences are available through direct coordination. Visitors should check special closures because the property regularly hosts private and member events.

HALL's mix of historic and contemporary spaces gives guests more to explore than a single tasting room. Art appears throughout the property, and outdoor areas create a social atmosphere close to downtown St. Helena. The location is easy to reach from Highway 29 and can fit into a town-centered itinerary without a mountain drive.

HALL St. Helena works well for first-time visitors, art lovers, groups and Cabernet drinkers who prefer some scheduling flexibility. Choose a tour when access to the property and a deeper explanation are priorities; choose a tasting for a shorter visit. Do not confuse this address with HALL Rutherford at 56 Auberge Road, which is a separate private cave experience and requires its own reservation.

What Wino Notion Loved
Wino Notion Editorial Visit, St. Helena, CA
Incredible ViewsPanoramic Napa Valley vistas from multiple points on the estate, among the most dramatic in the appellation
Friendly, Knowledgeable StaffEvery team member we encountered brought genuine warmth and solid wine knowledge, approachable without being performative
Impressive Wine RangeThe portfolio has real breadth, from estate Cabernet Sauvignon to Sauvignon Blanc and Merlot, something for every palate in the tasting lineup
Walk the GroundsThe sculpture-dotted estate rewards a leisurely walk, don't rush through just to taste; the grounds are part of the experience
LEED Platinum CommitmentThe world's first LEED Platinum certified winery, sustainability is built into the estate's DNA, not just its marketing
Set Expectations AccordinglyPopular and lively, not an intimate hideaway, come for the spectacle, views, and learning; plan a quieter winery for contemplation
"A genuinely fun place to spend a few hours, the views are spectacular, the staff are a delight, and the wine has the range to keep any table happy. Not the place for a quiet, contemplative tasting, but one of Napa's most rewarding estates for visitors who want to walk, explore, and learn."Wino Notion Editorial Team
"Wino Notion likes the energy created by the mix of historic buildings, modern design and contemporary art. HALL St. Helena gives Cabernet-focused visitors a visually engaging estate while still welcoming walk-ins when capacity allows."
