About Jack Rabbit Hill Winery

Jack Rabbit Hill Farm is a nationally acclaimed biodynamic farm winery near Hotchkiss, Colorado, in the North Fork Valley on the southern slope of Grand Mesa at about 6,200 feet elevation. Owner-winemaker Lance Hanson runs a diversified roughly 70-acre operation - with wine grapes, tree fruits, herb gardens, pasture and cattle - organically farmed and, since the late 2000s, the first biodynamically farmed property in Colorado.

The estate grows cool-climate varieties such as Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier, Chardonnay, Riesling and Cabernet Franc at high elevation, and vinifies with native yeasts, long slow fermentations and no commercial additives, aiming to express the farm's mountain terroir with clean, low-input methods. Beyond estate wines, the farm also makes CapRock gin, vodka and brandies, New Avalon grower ciders and its WineTapistry keg and box wines.

Tastings are intimate and farm-based, held on the porch or indoors at the combined home and winery, and visitors are welcomed by appointment. Because the farm carries separate wine and spirits licenses and keeps seasonal hours, it is best to call ahead and confirm current details before visiting.
