About Jory Winery
Jory Winery is named for the Jory soil series — a well-drained dark reddish-brown volcanic clay loam that is the dominant soil type of Oregon's Willamette Valley and also found in parts of the Santa Cruz Mountains. The Jory soil's volcanic origin (from ancient basaltic lava flows) creates the mineral-rich growing conditions that Pinot Noir and Chardonnay particularly benefit from. Naming the winery for the geological soil classification is an act of total terroir transparency.
