About Kelham Vineyards

The property began as Shadow Brook Winery, founded in 1984 by restaurateur Emil Hoffman on Zinfandel Lane just south of St. Helena. Rawson and Susanna Kelham bought the estate in 1997 and released their first Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot from the 1998 vintage; separately, the family also owned an 80-plus-acre vineyard in Oakville dating back to 1956, which supplied premium Cabernet fruit even though the public tasting room was always in St. Helena, not Oakville.

In 2023 an involuntary Chapter 11 bankruptcy petition was filed against Kelham, and a court-appointed trustee spent 2024 to 2025 selling off wine inventory and estate assets amid a family legal dispute; the St. Helena tasting room at 360 Zinfandel Lane is now listed as closed. A related label, Kelham Wines, continues to sell remaining library inventory (roughly 40,000 cases) directly online under new ownership, but without a public tasting room or scheduled visits.

After a 2023 Chapter 11 bankruptcy and trustee asset sale, Kelham's St. Helena tasting room has closed and the brand now sells privately online only.
