About Kenzo Estate
Kenzo Estate is a 3,800-acre property in the hills above Napa, at 3200 Monticello Road, developed starting in 2002 by video-game entrepreneur Kenzo Tsujimoto (founder of Capcom) working with viticulturist David Abreu. The estate opened to visitors in 2010 and sits at roughly 1,550 feet elevation, cooled by marine fog drawn up from San Pablo Bay.
Only about 160 of the estate's 3,800 acres, around 4%, are planted to Bordeaux varieties across nine vineyard phases using 18 clones and six rootstocks in Hambright-series volcanic soil. Architect Howard Backen designed the winery buildings, blending California barn style with Japanese influences, and the estate bottles its wines under Japanese-language names, including ai (Cabernet Sauvignon), rindo (red blend), asatsuyu (Sauvignon Blanc) and asuka (Cabernet Franc).
