About Lamborn Family Vineyards
Lamborn Family Vineyards is one of Howell Mountain's most historically significant estates — the Lamborn family has farmed volcanic mountain vineyards on Summit Lake Drive since 1973, making them one of the AVA's founding families and among the longest-tenured farming operations on the mountain.
The Summit Lake Drive estate sits at over 1,700 feet elevation on Howell Mountain's highest reaches, where ancient pyroclastic volcanic soils and extreme diurnal temperature swings produce Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon of concentrated mountain intensity. The estate's old-vine Zinfandel blocks — some dating to the original 1973 planting — are among the mountain's most historically significant wine-grape sources.
The Lamborn family's commitment to their own mountain estate and their own family name is simple and direct: they farm the land themselves, they name the wine for themselves, and they pour it personally for the visitors who make the appointment to come up the mountain.
